Paul Smith is an experienced Chief Executive with a demonstrated history of achievement in the healthcare industry. Paul has a strong background in strategy, development, and physician integration.
Most recently Paul developed and led a health network in Northern California which was a joint venture between a not-for-profit health systems, at the time, one of the first of its kind. The network included several employed primary and specialty care physicians as well as distributed and ancillary services throughout the market. Paul also has experience with Silicon Valley based technology startups including serving as Chief Revenue Officer at a telemedicine company. Prior to joining Tenet, Paul led consulting engagements at several health systems and payer organizations and some non-traditional clients including for the US Military Health System.
Mr. Smith brings to Progressive Healthcare a wide variety of senior level and CEO level experience. At a high level, Mr. Smith’s background includes:
Led an integrated health network consisting of primary and specialty physicians and ancillary services.
Assisted with the creation of a new division within Tenet dedicated to growing outpatient services. The efforts resulted in the acquisition of 47 freestanding centers generating over $150 M in revenue.
Led Tenet’s Outpatient Acquisition Team which included transactions exceeding $30 M.
Led Strategy and Business Development for a hospital region of 20+ hospitals.
In a consulting capacity, Mr. Smith delivered strategic and operational consulting services primarily to the health care industry.
Developed and managed employer-sponsored health plans representing over 100,000 members.
Paul is a graduate of the University of Georgia and is pleased to call Georgia his home again after 20 years of living across the US.
